Ripple vs SEC: 37 Days Left in Court Pause as Settlement Awaits SEC Approval $XRP
Ripple vs SEC: Lawsuit Officially Ends, Settlement Awaits Final Approval
The long-running legal battle between Ripple and the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) is officially over. In March 2025, the SEC withdrew its final appeal, closing the years-long case that had cast uncertainty over XRP and the broader crypto industry. Ripple agreed to pay a reduced $50 million penalty as part of the settlement, down from the original $125 million.
Currently, both parties are finalizing the settlement terms, which require approval from the SEC and the presiding judge. The next key date is June 16, 2025, by which time a final status report must be filed and the court pause is set to expire. If the judge lifts the remaining injunctions and the settlement is approved, it could clear the path for new institutional adoption and potentially an XRP ETF in the U.S.
Ripple’s legal victory is seen as a turning point for crypto regulation, with analysts predicting an 85% chance of an XRP ETF approval this year. For now, the crypto community is watching closely as the final paperwork and official sign-off from the SEC are awaited.
