🔴 EXCLUSIVE Blockstories – The Banque de France 🇫🇷 is working on a fully Ethereum-based REPO system that includes the use of stablecoins👇
One of the most influential central banks in Europe 🇪🇺 is aiming to launch a full-scale pilot for live experimentation by the end of 2025, according to sources familiar with the matter.
The system would be deployed on Morpho Blue, a protocol developed by the French startup Morpho Labs, which enables institutions to launch customised solutions with their specific parameters.
👉 Even more notably, the Banque de France is looking to test the use of stablecoins for these transactions, along with already-deployed tokenized money market funds.
🏦 For now, SG-Forge’s euro and dollar stablecoins, the blockchain subsidiary of Société Générale, along with the money market fund issued by startup Spiko, are the leading candidates. "As for the choice of participants, nothing has been definitively decided yet," a source noted.
Deploying the solution directly on Ethereum or a Layer 2 remains under consideration. “The right level of privacy still needs to be found,” explained several sources familiar with the matter.
🎯 But the objective is clear: “To build a repo system fully based on a permissionless blockchain, while remaining compatible with the requirements of financial institutions,” one source explained.
